The SoMA podcast

Welcome to the SoMA podcast. In this interview series we talk to the fascinating archaeologists, classicists, scientists who have made the Mediterranean region their work, their life, their passion. Hosted by Candace Richards.

While we understand that many podcasts have a regular broadcast schedule, we will not be placing such time constraints upon ourselves. We will attempt to bring you a new episode as regularly as possible, accommodating the time constraints of our schedules and our desire to make sure we bring you the most interesting guests and up to date research.

Episode 03: Professor Jim Wright

Episode 3 of the SoMA Podcast varies from our usual interview format. This episode is instead a live recording of the lecture delivered by this year's visiting Professor to the Australian Archaeological Institute at Athens on the 23 August 2017. Held at the University of Sydney's Centre for Classical and Near Eastern Studies, this lecture "Bringing the Dead to Life: scientific excavations of a Mycenaean chamber tomb cemetery in the Nemea Valley, Greece" was a highlight of the academic year for Sydney based Mediterranean Archaeologists. Professor Wright is an excellent and well regarded archaeologist and scholar and shared with us some of his latest research and methodologies for excavating Bronze Age archaeology in the Peloponnese. We thank the AAIA for letting us record and post this lecture as part of the SoMA podcast series.

Please note that this lecture was delivered with slides and occasionally Professor Wright refers to images and content not available through the audio. I hope you enjoy the lecture as much as we all did in Sydney.
